Frequently Asked Questions

What are you offering?

Pilots call this a "crashpad." We call it rent-a-bedroom housing that's oh so cool... especially after four years in Bancroft. For a flat monthly fee you get a private room with a queen bed, dresser, and map-reading work station; and access to shared common spaces, including the kitchen with professional grade cookware and appliances, living room with comfy leather seating and premium channels on the 70-inch television, front porch seating to watch the dolphins swim in the bayou, and a back patio with gas grill, firepit and adirondak chairs. And did we mention the kayaks and paddle boards too?

Who is this for?

This house is rented primarily to Midshipmen who graduated from the US Naval Academy and were assigned to the Naval Air Station (NAS) in Pensacola, Fla. We set up this house to give new officers a fast -- and stress free -- transition from to Pensacola.

What's so special about this house?

This is an AMAZING house located in Pensacola's up-and-coming Navy Point neighborhood. Features and benefits:

  • Just ONE MILE from the NAS front gate. You'll have the fastest commute of anyone! You could probably run to work.
  • Dolphins and herring play in the bayou right across the street. Some of the rooms overlook the water.
  • Three-mile shaded running path along the water's edge.
  • The NAVY Blue Angels fly directly overhead during jaw dropping morning practices that never get old.
  • Private off street parking means you're never battling to find a space.
  • Downtown Pensacola's popular restaurants and bars are just 5 miles away.
  • On-site free laundry, free utilities (gas, electric, water, TV, wifi, pest control, trash)

How many people do you rent to? And can I add a person to my room so that we can split the cost?

This house is rented to just five people -- one per bedroom. We can't have more because parking is limited and the house is hooked up to a septic system that can only handle the water from a limited number of showers and other flushed waste. Too many people can have nasty sewage consequences. Yuck!

How long is the lease? What's the security deposit and other fees?

This really is going to be the easiest move of your career. The lease is month-to-month and can be broken with 30-days notice. To get started just pay a $500 security deposit to hold the room. You'll get back your deposit once you've left your room and the house in the condition you found it.

This sounds too good to be true. What's the catch?

If there's a catch, it's that we rent to only 5 people at a time... and we have high expectations for everyone staying here. Small gatherings of friends or family are fine, but a blow-out bash could cause a call to your commander.

How do I start the process?

Renting a room is super easy and low stress. Here's what's involved:

  • Complete the online application.
  • We chat about whether this is the right house and neighborhood for you.
  • If a room is coming available when you're ready to report, the $500 deposit will hold your spot.
  • Everything else is handled digitally, including instructions for moving in, your personal door code, rent payments, and communicating with us.

Can I bring my own furniture or have a pet?

No. Sorry.  No new furniture may be added to the house. And no pets, including visiting pets brought by friends.

What isn't included?

Everything is included except for your food, beverages, and items that are a personal choice. Like what? You bring your own bedding and towels, your laundry soap, and other items for personal use. We'll even restock the toilet paper and paper towel supply each month so you and your roommates won't have to. Yep, that's covered too.

Do you have other houses available to rent in Pensacola?

We will, but they're not ready to rent yet. And, if you have areas of town where you think this kind of by-the-room crashpad would be great for officers, we're all ears. Let us know where you think we should create a crashpad next.
